The GTL provides 1-2 day sequencing of unique DNAs and rapid delivery of oligonucleotides. Specialized reagents and supplies for DNA analysis are also available. Measures of its utility and success include its use by ~150 research groups across the College Station campus and its annual revenue of approximately $300,000 from fees-for-service.
In addition to technological services provided by the GTL and LGB, the IDMB provides hospitality and working space for visiting scientists from around the world. Since its inception in 1992, over 50 research articles have been published with IDMB (and Biology Dept) affiliation.
Laboratory for Genome Bioinformatics (LGB)
The LGB was recently established with the intention of eliminating barriers that prevent research groups across campus from fully exploiting the power of new genome bioinformatic approaches. Its focus is on gaining and transferring expertise in advanced genome bioinformatics. It is intended to be of help to groups all over TAMU to choose,
install, and use computational tools and to understand the potential strengths and weaknesses of these tools.
