The Water maze is a well-known paradigm to study spatial learning and memory. The maze consists of a large circular tub filled with water and a hidden floating platform. The water serves as an aversion stimulus to motivate the mouse or rat to find a means of escape. The goal of the animal is to reach the platform with the aid of visual cues placed around the maze.
